Coastlands is an institute dedicated to the renewal of moral leadership in the world
Coastlands is an institute that operates under Cor Christi. The word “Coastlands” came from an inspiration Monsignor George Tracy experienced concerning bringing Christ’s holy Word to the World. The word itself was specifically taken from Isaiah 42:4 “until He establishes justice on the earth, the coastlands will wait for His teaching.” While all words have meaning, these words simply have more when based upon one’s understanding of scripture. These words are only a part of Isaiah’s chapter 42, and taken in total (along with all the chapters of Isaiah from chapter 40 to 66) they are often referred to by scholars as “the servant songs.” In essence, the servant represents the ideal, a type of true adorer of God, someone completely consecrated to God’s holy will. The songs call us to be holy…call us for the victory of justice…call us to be a light for the nations. The true light, moreover, is teaching and moral reform.
Monsignor Tracy envisioned Coastlands as a institute, focused on identifying and inculcating objective truth and morality to the secular leadership in today’s world. He often stated that each of us needs to address and end the “poverty of affluence” because it is in this poverty that countless lives are shattered in immoral wars, fabricated political turmoil and civil unrest as well as for other immoral and unethical purposes.
